Avengers: Infinity War fails to beat The Fate of the Furious at the overseas box office, becomes the 2nd highest opening weekend grosser
Marvel‘s latest offering – Avengers: Infinity War has been smashing records across the world. In fact, after recording the highest opening weekend collection in America, everyone thought it would shatter all the records possible. However, looks like it hasn’t been able to dent The Fate of the Furious‘ record at the international box office. For those of you who don’t know, The Fate of the Furious (a.k.a Fast & Furious 8) had raked in $443 million over the first weekend, when it released last year. And while Avengers: Infinity War gave it a tough fight, it could manage to rake in just $380 million from the foreign markets. Oviously The Fate of the Furious had an advantage as it got a day and date release in China, which enabled it to rake in such a huge amount at the overseas box office. Considering this, Avengers: Infinity War has performed exceptionally well.
In fact, Avengers: Infinity War beat Jurassic World ($316.69 million) in the overseas market to become the second highest opening weekend grosser at the foreign box office. This is a huge deal, but we always expected it. With so much buzz and anticipation for the film across the world, the Marvel superhero film had to break records. And that’s what it did! From what we hear, the latest instalment of Avengers has broken records in several international markets like South Korea, Mexico, Brazil, India, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, amongst others.
